Youth voice
ICM is for young people and your voice and ideas are important to us. We have a growing Youth Forum and we are always looking for new members.
Are you interested in a career in mental health or influencing the support and wellbeing activities on offer to the young people of our community? We can support you with career progression, work experience and university applications.
School Support Package
Not all young people need counselling, and many can manage their own mental wellbeing if they have a greater understanding of what is considered a normal part of adolescence. Our whole school approach focuses on improving attendance, exclusion prevention and what students experience at school, with their peers and how to cope with that. We attend weekly providing a lunch time wellbeing drop in, assemblies, workshops for students, parents and teachers and 1:1 solution focused programmes. Our solution focused sessions allow students three sessions to work through a problem within their control, this short intervention is particularly effective for emotional based school avoidance and truanting.
For students who want support to stay in school, we have helped them develop confidence and coping strategies and have seen many cases of attendance improving from under 50% to 100% by the end of the intervention.
We can work collaboratively with your wellbeing team and your MHST to deliver bespoke support to your students. ICM run and fund our project and have the flexibility to adapt to the needs of your students, we also have the benefit of being able to provide ongoing support through our counselling provision in Highbridge. We do not have rigid referral criteria and our consistent and flexible approach allows your students to develop relationships and trust with our staff, an adult independent of the school. We can also provide ICM Counsellors to work at your school, some schools find this is more effective than a counsellor that is ‘school staff’, we invoice per counselling hour.
